This #GivingTuesday 11-27-2018, join me in raising money for St. John the Evangelist, an Orthodox Mission parish of the Orthodox Church of America. We have been in existence for 12 years and are growing. Father Andre Paez is our pastor and has been serving us for the last 5 years. In the last 3 years, we have expanded our sanctuary, the fellowship hall, added Sunday School rooms and a kitchen area to accommodate our growth!
We are currently in a rented 6,000 sq ft space and have been praying for the right opportunity to acquire a permanent church building. With this FB Giving Tuesday Fundraiser, we have the ability to raise $250,000 in donations from our supporters which could double to $500,000 with Facebook’s Giving Tuesday match!!! This would generate the necessary funds for a down payment toward our own church property.
The funds raised will also help us cover immediate needs including new flooring for our narthex, kitchen and fellowship areas, Sunday school teacher training for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and new vestments for our priest and altar servers. No donation is too small (or too large!) to help us minister to our parish and the visitors we have every Sunday!
St. John the Evangelist Orthodox Church is a community of Orthodox Christians seeking to glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people in the Phoenix area and beyond through worship, the sacramental life, education, philanthropy, hospitality, fellowship and the practice of Christian stewardship.
Centrally located in Tempe, the Mission is home to approximately 120 people. Our friendly community welcomes many visitors weekly and on Sundays we provide them with a home cooked meal after liturgy while answering their questions about the faith. With your help, we can continue to grow into a larger, thriving parish that ministers to our Phoenix Valley community.
God Bless you and thank you for your generous support of Christ’s Holy Church!
